One of those countries that you cant take anyones word for it, you need to visit and experience it yourself. Its controversial political turmoil, the raw natural beauty, the passionate warm-blooded locals, and harsh social realities will surprise you beyond belief. Well adventure deep in the Amazon jungle to Angel Falls, the highest waterfalls in the World, witness life in vibrant Caracas, and finish off in pristine beaches in Margarita Island. What are you waiting for?

Day 1: Arrival in Caracas.

  • The Expedition starts with an Airport pick-up and welcome dinner in the city.
  • Dinner and overnight stay in Eurobuilding Maiquetia.

Day 2: Journey to Isla Margarita.

  • In the early morning, we’ll fly to Isla Margarita, the biggest island in the country, sitting in its beautiful Caribbean shores. We’ll settle in our hotel and take a boat ride to Isla de Coche, to enjoy a much needed tropical beach time.
  •  Dinner and overnight at our four star hotel in Playa El Yaque.

Day 3: Wandering the island.

  • Full-day exploring Isla Margarita’s wonders. From it’s photogenic beaches to water activities and rich culture, we’ll explore the island’s highlights: Porlamar, Pampatar, La Asunción, Playa Parguito. Life is laidback in the Venezuelan Caribbean and we’ll see the diverse contrasts with the capital we’ll be visiting next. At night, coinciding with the full moon, we’ll venture out on a kayak tour in La Restinga National Park.
  •  Dinner and overnight at our four star hotel in Isla Margarita.

Day 4: Isla Margarita & Caracas.

  • We’ll make the most of our last day in these Caribbean shores before heading back to Caracas on a domestic flight. Depending on the schedule, we’ll make the most of our extra time in the fabulous Caracas, where life never stops, no matter the time of day. Truly one of the most special capitals in Latin America.
  • Dinner and overnight at our four star hotel in downtown Caracas.

Day 5: Exploring Caracas.

  • Full-day exploring Venezuela’s lively capital. We’ll visit the city’s most famous landmarks, walk around the Old Town and see Bolivar’s house, as well as the daily lives of local Caraqueños. We’ll venture into a Barrio, humble neighbourhoods where street art and culture takes over, and we’ll wander to the best viewpoints in town. From there, we will experience some of the quirks of Venezuela like its super inflation and almost free gas. Of course, when in Caracas, we’ll have time to feast on the best Venezuelan gastronomy.
  • Dinner and overnight at our four star hotel in downtown Caracas.

Day 6: Laguna de Canaima & Sapo Falls

  • In the early morning our Expedition heads to Maiquetía Airport, to catch a small charter flight to the rainforests of Canaima NP, where the infamous Salto Angel Waterfall lies. Upon our arrival in Canaima, we will settle in our comfortable lodge and venture out to explore the Lagoon of Canaima, as well as Sapo Falls, a great appetizer of what’s to come in the next few days.
  • Dinner and overnight camp at our Canaima Lodge.

Day 7: Journey to Angel Falls.

  • After a delicious Venezuelan breakfast, we’ll start our journey to Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the World, towering at 979m over the forests of Canaima. It will be a river expedition that will take a few hours crossing the incredibly photogenic jungles of Canaima, rich in biodiversity. After a short hike, we’ll reach the base of the falls, where we will overnight. Usually tours go back to the lodge on the same day, having just a brief visit in Angel Falls. However, we’ll try to maximize our time at the falls and enjoy a sunset and sunrise there. A night you’ll never forget under the stars, the falls and the sounds of the jungle!
  • Dinner and overnight in an adventurous hammock camp at the base of Angel Falls.

Day 8: Journey around Angel Falls.

  • We will have extra time at the Falls, and probably head to Orchid Island. More hikes, more river cruises and more jungle fun.
  • Dinner and overnight in an adventurous hammock camp at the base of Angel Falls or at the lodge (to be determined).

Day 9:  Angel Falls and Canaima.

  • After breakfast, we’ll make our way back to Canaima following the course of the winding rivers coveted by the jungle canopy. A cruise you’ll always remember! On arrival at the lodge, we’ll feast and celebrate and attend a Pemon Indigenous cultural show.
  • Dinner and overnight our Canaima Lodge.

Day 10: Canaima & fly out.

  • We’ll enjoy an easy morning, with a much needed downtime after our Canaima adventures before catching our private charter flight back to Caracas. In the city, we’ll grab a bite to eat and freshen up before our international flight departs around 21.40pm.

I had an amazing time in Venezuela with Wanderexpeditions! The country is incredible and a new highlight waited almost every day. But what really made the trip were the people. Our group was very international and we had a lot of fun together. I definitely made some good friends here that I will travel with in the future. Do yourself the favor and join a wanderexpedition!
