The Stans are back! One of out bestsellers, with our already classic itinerary over-landing Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Spring is the perfect time to explore the stunning raw outdoors and rich nomad lifestyle. There are few places more off the beaten path than Central Asia and this is a great way to combine these countries. A balanced and very affordable Expedition, where we'll use our time efficiently to experience the nature and live with nomads. All of it with the best possible company of new lifelong friendships you'll create.
Itinerary
You can combine this Expedition with Turkmenistan Expedition the following week.
Day 0:
Our first days are usually a full day, starting from the early morning. Therefore, you need to arrive in Bishkek at any time the day before. This also provides an excellent opportunity to explore the city, as we will be departing early the next day.
Day 1: Burana Tower - Songkul Lake - Kok Boru
We immerse ourselves in the scenic beauty of Songkul Lake, one of the most beautiful areas around there where we will see Kyrgyz National nomadic game called Kok Boru. It’s the highlight of our Expedition.
Overnight at yurt camp
Day 2: Eagle hunting - Naryn
We’ll start with the eagle hunting show and then we will drive to the South of Kyrgyzstan and drive to Naryn city on the way we stop in beautiful places and Dolon pass which is on 3030 meters above the sea level.

Day 3: Karakol - Barskoon - Issyk Kul
Today we will continue to Issyk Kul Lake and spend the day with nomads in their yurt camps.

Day 4: Eagle hunting - Naryn
Today we’ll explore Barksoon valley and mesmerize at the jaw dropping view of Jety Oguz.
Tonight we’ll explore the town of Karakol and it’s impressive wooden orthodox church.

Day 5: Karakol & Kolsai Lake
Early morning we will take the mountain roads and cross over to Kazakhstan, where we will drive to Kolsai to admire the beautiful and pristine alpine lake.
Overnight in Saty village
Day 6: Charyn Canyon (Kazakhstan), Almaty
Today we’ll explore Charyn Canyon, the Beautiful and intelligible little sister of Colorado Canyon in USA.
In the afternoon, we'll reach Almaty, and explore the city before our last dinner together.

Day 7: It's time to say goodbye; fly out on your final morning.
You can fly directly and affordably from Almaty to Ulan Bataar, to join our Mongolia Expedition in the infamous Nadaam Festival.

The best way to see not only the Mt Hagen festival but also the highlights of the PNG highlands. Safe, exciting, and lots of fun.
A spiritual and cultural-focussed expedition, not the typical style of other Wander trips, but I absolutely loved it. Bhutan is beautiful and this expedition was the best way to see it, the tricky visa and tour guide requirements were all handled and the itinerary gave the very best of the country in a few days. Northern India was equally serene and even as someone who hates hiking, having a great group to champion you along the way made it fun.
The best overland adventure you could ever ask for. Two weeks, 22 people, 6 cars, endless laughs. Sure, the days are long, and you definitely need to bring snacks, but it’s so much fun and the best way to see the parts of Africa that most people don’t go to! And it has everything - beach, nature, pool days, local communities, cities and middle-of-nowhere adventures. I’d even go as far as to say I’d do it again….. never say never!
My trip to Libya with you Wander Expeditions was unreal! Everything was super well organized, the group vibe was like family, and the guide kept things fun with stories and games along the way. Libya itself blew me away amazing people, amazing places, and good energy everywhere we went.
