Vanuatu is a hidden gem in the South Pacific, offering adventure-seekers a paradise of active volcanoes, lush jungle treks, pristine beaches, and underwater shipwrecks waiting to be explored. Its diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage set it apart from the typically flat atoll nations in the region. Our Expedition will take you across two of Vanuatu’s most iconic islands, Efate and Tanna, before continuing to the Solomon Islands, where we’ll visit the main island, Guadalcanal, infamous for WWII, and the famous diving haven of Gizo. This might be the only time we offer this Expedition—don’t miss your chance! Apply now and join us for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure in the Pacific. To complete our Melanesian trio, we'll offer an add-on to Papua New Guinea and it's epic Mt Hagen Festival.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Port Vila (Vanuatu)

  • Arrive in Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu. As soon as we arrive, we will try to catch an air taxi to Tanna Island to maximize our exploration time on this wild island.
  • Overnight in Tanna Island.

Day 2: Tanna Island and Mt Yasur

  • Today, we will hike to the rim of the active volcano crater, explore nearby tribes, and stay in cozy jungle bungalows by the beach. We will aim to catch an air taxi back to Port Vila early the next morning.
  • Overnight in Tanna.

Day 3: Port Vila - Honiara (Solomon Islands)

  • Depending on our Air Taxi and onward flight connection, we will explore the capital, Port Vila, before taking a flight to our next destination, the Solomon Islands. We expect to arrive in Honiara in the afternoon.
  • We'll explore the capital of the Solomon Islands on arrival before dinner.
  • Overnight: Honiara

Day 4: Flight to Gizo

  • We will take a domestic flight to Gizo, the second-largest town in the Solomon Islands. We will explore the island or walk along the scenic coastline to the most famous beaches of the country.
  • Overnight: Gizo

Day 5: Gizo

  • Today, experience the underwater beauty of Gizo, which boasts some of the best and most exciting snorkeling and diving sites in the world. From WWII wrecks to vibrant reefs with some of the highest fish counts globally, there is always something new to discover. Snorkel near the famous WWII Japanese wreck in Gizo's crystal-clear waters. This is truly one of the top spots in the Western Pacific for underwater exploration.
  • Overnight: Gizo

Day 6: Fly back to Honiara

  • Honiara, the capital and central hub of the Solomon Islands, is located on the island of Guadalcanal. We will explore various sites including the Crafts Market Centre, Central Market, the American Memorial, and the Solomon Peace Memorial, located on Mt. Austin and built by the Japanese.
  • Overnight: Honiara

Day 7: Honiara and End of Expedition

  • We'll fly out after breakfast. Either back home, or continuing to Papua New Guinea for our add-on.

For those interested, once booked, we'll offer a Papua New Guinea add-on including the famous Mt Hagen Festival.

Absolutely unforgettable. Traveling through Central America was so much more than a trip. It was an experience built around connection and shared adventure. From volcano hikes to pyramid sunrises, every destination was stunning, but what truly made it special was the group I shared it with. I’ve come home with a head full of memories, several crazy stories, and a few friends for life.

The best introduction to this part of the world. West Africa is sometimes called "Africa for beginners". I can see it. Mostly laid back, beautiful coast, incredible sightseeing and smiley locals. Add in the mix the Vodun culture, the colourful dances and thrilling rituals and you have an adventure to remember. Benin has quickly rose to being one of my favourite countries and the expedition family some of my favourite people.

History, history, history! Wow, is all I can say. Libya's recent history has created an isolation from tourism, and made this a relatively untouched Mediterranean gem. The Roman and Phoenician ruins are just mind-blowing. The trip out to the Algerian-Libyan border of The Sahara Desert is long, but well worth it to see Ghadames. Definitely say, "Yes"!

What a hilarious group of explorers who made the long drives fun! The guys were great dancers, too, when faced with rejection by the local females at the bar/dance hall, they had no problem dancing with themselves! Music, song and "car dancing" kept the mood going the whole time. Views were outstanding in The Pamir region.

I really cherish the people I met on my 1st "YES", I said to Afghanistan. It was a small group of very empathetic and adventurous people. We were all nervous at first, until we settled into the pace of our Expedition led by Elena. The people, the lead, the guide and drivers, and the shop keepers were so welcoming and professional. Kindest and most generous people I've met in recent years. I highly recommend everyone visit Afghanistan.
