Itinerary
Day 0: Arrival in Juba
- Upon arrival in Juba, after clearing customs, we transfer to the hotel, where we will have time to rest. In the evening, we gather for a briefing followed by a welcome dinner where we will get to know our Travel Fam!
- Overnight: Juba
Day 1: Juba & Visit to Dinka Cattle Camp
- The expedition begins in Juba. The morning will be dedicated to registering at the tourism office. Once registration is complete, the journey proceeds to a Dinka cattle camp. This immersive experience provides an opportunity to meet the Dinka tribe and witness their deep connection with their prized cattle. The day concludes with a breathtaking sunset photography session featuring the iconic Sudanese longhorn cows, before spending the night in tents at the cattle camp.
Day 2: Bor town & White Nile
- After sunrise and breakfast with the Dinkas, we continue our journey north to Bor, the capital of Jonglei State. Upon arrival, we board a traditional boat to navigate the White Nile, one of the most significant rivers in Africa.
- Our boat journey takes us into the heart of the Sudd, one of the world's largest wetlands. This vast and almost impassable swampland is home to unique wildlife and serves as a crucial ecosystem for both local communities and migratory birds. We will explore the narrow channels, observing fishermen at work and soaking in the untouched beauty of this remote region.
- This is a very unique experience, since the only bridge that crosses the Nile in South Sudan is in Juba. Then, we return to Bor for exploring the town .
- Overnight in Bor
Day 3: Terekeka & Mundari
- After an early breakfast, we set off for Terekeka, home to the Mundari people. The drive offers scenic views of South Sudan’s countryside, with occasional wildlife sightings and traditional villages along the way. By mid-afternoon, we reach a Mundari cattle camp, where we are welcomed by this proud and resilient tribe. Their camps, covered in a constant haze of smoke from burning cow dung (used to protect the cattle from insects), create an almost surreal atmosphere. Enjoy another photogenic sunset when the entire landscape is bathed in golden hues.
- Dinner will be enjoyed at camp, offering an opportunity to engage with the Mundari and learn about their customs.
Day 4: Full Day with the Mundari & Return to Juba
- This full-day experience allows travelers to fully immerse themselves in the extraordinary lifestyle of the Mundari people. We will witness their daily routines, from milking cows and crafting intricate hairstyles with ash to the unique way they train and care for their cattle.
- Midday, we take a break from the heat, relaxing in the shade and enjoying a simple but authentic meal with our Mundari hosts and we will start the drive back to Juba. Upon arrival in the city, there will be a short evening tour, allowing travelers to explore some key landmarks or enjoy a farewell dinner together.
- Overnight: Juba
Day 5: Goodbyes and Fly out
- After breakfast, the worst moment of every Expedition: we say goodbye. The Expedition is finished and we fly out.

Absolutely unforgettable. Traveling through Central America was so much more than a trip. It was an experience built around connection and shared adventure. From volcano hikes to pyramid sunrises, every destination was stunning, but what truly made it special was the group I shared it with. I’ve come home with a head full of memories, several crazy stories, and a few friends for life.
The best introduction to this part of the world. West Africa is sometimes called "Africa for beginners". I can see it. Mostly laid back, beautiful coast, incredible sightseeing and smiley locals. Add in the mix the Vodun culture, the colourful dances and thrilling rituals and you have an adventure to remember. Benin has quickly rose to being one of my favourite countries and the expedition family some of my favourite people.
History, history, history! Wow, is all I can say. Libya's recent history has created an isolation from tourism, and made this a relatively untouched Mediterranean gem. The Roman and Phoenician ruins are just mind-blowing. The trip out to the Algerian-Libyan border of The Sahara Desert is long, but well worth it to see Ghadames. Definitely say, "Yes"!
What a hilarious group of explorers who made the long drives fun! The guys were great dancers, too, when faced with rejection by the local females at the bar/dance hall, they had no problem dancing with themselves! Music, song and "car dancing" kept the mood going the whole time. Views were outstanding in The Pamir region.
I really cherish the people I met on my 1st "YES", I said to Afghanistan. It was a small group of very empathetic and adventurous people. We were all nervous at first, until we settled into the pace of our Expedition led by Elena. The people, the lead, the guide and drivers, and the shop keepers were so welcoming and professional. Kindest and most generous people I've met in recent years. I highly recommend everyone visit Afghanistan.
Such a beautiful place with very beautiful people. Patagonia is a very unique and must see place. The crew is what makes it happen.
